España no durmió esta noche. Perdió unos de sus hijos pero España salió ganadora. Tanto Rafael Nadal como David Ferrer son ídolos nacionales, representantes del orgullo y la casta de España. Como una vez lo fueran Manolo Santana y Manuel Orantes, hoy uno de estos dos jóvenes tuvo que dar un paso para dar a España la oportunidad de ganar el Open por tercera vez en la historia. Ferrer prevaleció en cuatro: 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (4) y 6-2.
