Firefighters responding to four-alarm blaze at Palisade Avenue and 13th Street in Union City today.
A four-alarm fire in Union City has displaced between 40 and 45 people, according to Mayor Brian Stack.
A three-story building at the corner of Palisade Avenue and 13th Street was completely destroyed and two adjacent buildings were heavily damaged.
Four vehicles that were parked in a lot next to the corner building also went up in flames, officials said.
Firefighters, who are still on the scene, received the call about the fire at 11:30 a.m.
By the time they arrived, the corner building, where fire started, was engulfed by heavy flames, officials said.
A power line collapsed onto a ladder truck and that slowed dealing with the blaze, an official said.
Fire officials said there were no serious injuries, although at least one resident was seen taken away on a stretcher.
