Union City’s Veteran Affair Monitor and war hero Sgt. Caobano Reyes (L) marches with his ROTC cadets in the Virgen de La Caridad parade in Union City on September, 13, 2009.

Mayor and State Senator Brian P. Stack, flanked by supporters, received a typically warm welcome from Union City residents as he joined them in honoring their patron saint. Feeding from the energy of the extremely successful grand opening of Union City High School, Mayor Stack and his commissioners are an invaluable asset to our community and the profound respect demonstrated by their continuing presence at such important cultural events to our community will always be immensely appreciated. Next to Mayor Stack, West New York Mayor, Silverio Vega, marches through the legendary Bergenline Avenue carrying the Cuban flag.

The leader of West New York, Dr. Felix Roque with his fiancé Liusda and Ruben Vargas, an outstanding leader of the organization Together We Can, marches through the streets of Union City. Dr. Roque, a devotee of the Virgen de La Caridad, and a man of faith who has dedicated his life to heal the pain of others is now in the middle of another mission: to restore faith in public service in the town of West New York.
