On Tuesday, June 23, Union City High School, South Campus, held it’s final commencement at the old building on 18th Street, formerly known as Emerson High School for the class of 2009. The ceremony took place in harmony where proud parents celebrated their young’s accomplishment. After the commencement ceremony the graduates participated in project graduation, a huge party lasting into the morning hours where the Union City Board of Education offers plenty of music, great food, T-Shirs, games, and many attractions to keep our young people safe, providing the graduates with a great night under the supervision of teachers and administrators. For the last six years I’ve worked the door, greeting parents. Now that we’re moving to a new school I thank Mr. Aleman, Vice Principal of Union City High School-South Campus for giving me the opportunity to greet the many happy faces of parents, family members and friends at the door this very special night for the past six years. Mr. Aleman is also the man Robert Fazio, UC Assistant Superintendent of Schools, entrusted with organizing this great event with the help of many dedicated people, especially US Marines Sgt. Caonabo Reyes, one of the best people you would ever want to meet. Congratulations to all the graduates, parents and family members!

The Union City Police Department always there for all the residents, providing safety, serving with professionalism and courtesy. Especial thanks to UCPO Antonmarchi, who worked outside and treated parents with the usual respect and courtesy he treats students. All who have had the opportunity to see this police officer work with the youth of our city can corroborate these words. Thank you Mr. Antonmarchi.

Mr. Medina and my friend Otto worked with me the 2009 UCHS commencement yesterday. They both work security at Union City High School. Both strong members of Mayor Brian Stack’s Union City First organization and great people.
