This is a slap in the face to all WNY residents who are over-taxed with a 47% increase in less than two years. Now Vega rewards the town with a reduction of services. More taxes and fewer services to WNY residents: that’s the core of the Vega team’s political platform. In the meantime, his political hacks get raises and he continues to hire more “favorites” with higher and higher salaries.

We are against the firing of any police officers because of the fiscal irresponsibility and lack of leadership of professional politicians. We strongly support the WNY Police Department and all of its officers who are supporting their fellow brothers. In the difficult times that we live in, police officers are essential for the safety and security of the hard-working and honest citizens of West New York. We also raise our voices against the firing of security guards in WNY parks and all the municipal employees who will be on the unemployment lines on July 1, 2009 because of the fiscal mess Sal Vega and his political machine have created, especially when the mayor’s political puppets enjoy high salaries despite being harshly criticized for occupying positions whose requirements are mostly adjusted to their political loyalties.

It’s about time that those who are still in doubt about Mayor Vega’s skills to lead the town realize that the man is not a leader but a failed and repressive politician, a political boss styled in the mold of last century politicos, who at least had charisma and leadership skills, both lacking in Silverio “Sal” Vega.

It’s about time to realize that a new sun is rising over West New York with Dr. Felix Roque’s Together We Can recall effort.

Dr. Roque has taken to the task of getting rid of bully of West New York. He will lower taxes as well as restore unity and harmony in the town. He will implement in WNY Town Hall an open-door policy without receiving one cent of taxpayers’ money in salary. He is totally committed to the WNY Police Department and will rehire not only the 22 officers that have received pink slips today but all municipal workers who have been wrongly discharged of their duties today.

This weekend Dr. Roque is assuming command of the 4215 Combat Support Hospital located in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Roque took a few minutes to express disgust with the current situation in West New York.

“I am extremely upset with the present lack of leadership and fiscal mess created by Mayor Vega by hiring the selected few that make more than all the hard-working citizens which received pink slips today”, he stated for Rafaelmartel.com. “My heart goes out to them and their families. I let them know today that if I have their support in this recall effort and I have the privilege of being elected as their mayor I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from my administration towards hard-working, honest and defenseless people.”, conclude Dr. Roque.
