Padre Alberto Cutie talked to CBS’ Early Show, today. In an exclusive interview with Maggie Rodriguez, Cutie talked about the scandalous photos published by TV Notas Magazine, last week, where he’s seen canoodling with a woman.
Here’s a couple of quotes from Cutie, who interestingly enough, wasn’t wearing his priest’s clothes:
-’In 22 years I’ve never had a sexual relationship with anyone. I committed myself fully to my vows.’’
-‘The truth of the matter is I don’t support breaking the celibacy promise.’
–‘I think celibacy is good, but I also believe what many say is that maybe it should be optional.’
The poor priest looked like he was going to break down during parts of the interview. It was really nerve-wracking for me to see Padre Alberto going back and forth about celibacy: one minute he would agree with it, the other he didn’t.
The father neither accepted or denied he had broken up with his lover.
