Love Story in Union City!
War Hero Weds High School Sweetheart days before returning to the Front!

Sharyne and Edward met in high school where they just fell in love. It was un flechazo. They were high school sweethearts. He was 16, she was 15. This is a first and only love story that ended-or rather started-when they became Mr. and Mrs. Schmelz today February 20, 2009 at Union City City Hall, before Mayor Brian P. Stack, who says this is one of the most gratifying parts of his job, married the young couple. Mr. Schmelz is a war veteran at his young age, having served in Iraq. On March 3 he goes back to serve his country, with the slight difference that now he’s married. Every Friday UC Mayor and State Senator Stack conducts wedding ceremonies with a smile on his face. Working 16 hours a day for the people makes Friday a especial day because as he says “It’s very positive to see so many couples taking this step. It strenghteness our community.”
