The Hillary Machine May have Taken Massachusetts…
Frances Martel
But Barack Obama is the new generation’s President!
Obama’s name and refreshing message of change and hope resonated throughout campuses around the nation, reflecting off of stickers young voters sported on their shirts, signs propped up against professors’ doors, and clipboards in the arms of many that merely four years ago were considered part of America’s most apathetic demographic.

Yet in a tragic turn of events for American democracy, reports have arisen of mass voter fraud in neglecting to send absentee ballots to young voters. To New Jersey voters disenfranchised, like myself, this is yet one more sign that Bob Menendez’s Alliance machine- the same one that forced ex-Governor Jim McGreevey to choose between confessing his corruption or confessing his homosexuality- is still alive and, at least, paddling, if not kicking. Menendez, one of Hillary Clinton’s campaign managers, would benefit greatly from this negligence, as Barack Obama is polling magnificently among most of the voters who were denied their suffrage through what, due to lack of evidence, we can only call a case of mass electoral incompetence. Menendez cronies working within the Hudson County Board of Elections conveniently neglected to send out certain ballots to certain colleges. While both our personal experience and the column posted by the Harvard College Democrats can only demonstrate that Democrats were affected, it is possible that Republicans were, as well, although John McCain, as a candidate, is dead in the water in most of the states where students did not receive their ballots.
It should come as no surprise to many that Hillary “Whitewater” Clinton would resort to such means, particularly since Super Tuesday left her delegate count below Barack Obama’s. Now she is only banking on her electoral magicians- what the Democratic party likes to call “superdelegates”, to save her. What a coincidence that Bill Clinton and Terry McAuliffe, who admitted to “pulling a lot of resources in New Jersey” for his woman last night to Chris Matthews on MSNBC, count as much as the votes of entire states come Convention night. It should come as no surprise that an organization with Bob Menendez in a top position- the most popular candidate among Hudson County’s most important demographic (the dead vote)- is defying the voice of the people.
While New Jersey can do little more to help the Obama campaign bring back legitimacy to the Democratic party, there are still states left that can make a difference. Louisiana, Washington, Texas, Ohio- you can still make a difference. Vote for free and fair elections. Vote for change. Deny the Clintons another eight years of immorality, destructive foreign policy, and tax-and-spending. Vote Obama.
